The Elementary Flying Training School (formerly known as the Flying Selection Squadron) was based at RAF Swinderby in Lincolnshire, and was where potential pilots were assessed on their flying skills.
No 8 Sqn, RAF Lossiemouth
Used as a tail-dragger trainer, to keep Shackleton pilots proficient on this type of aircraft.
